As more people are using bikes in conjunction with transit, some transit agencies are taking innovative approaches in order to provide more bicycle parking.
The CTA Tattler talks about a program by the Chicago Department of Transportation to increase bicycle parking structure at 4 major transit stations including the Midway Airport Orange Line Station.
While the picture of the blog shows a structure that is not very architecturally pleasing, it does dramatically increase the number of bicycles that can parked at the station.
The picture shows another Chicago project and that is a bicycle station that even includes showers for riders.
While some ideas may be new ideas to the states, they have been used in European countries for years. Now with gas prices going higher we are finally looking at making transit and bicycles a more important part of our commuting world.
