Mid-Jordan Light Rail TRAX Construction Update: July 23, 2009*

Bangerter Bridge

UPDATED Activity: Crews will be performing work on the Bangerter Highway overpass at approximately 8700 South. Traffic Impacts: Two right southbound lanes of Bangerter Highway will be closed 8/1 (Saturday) and two left northbound lanes will be closed on 8/2 (Sunday) to accommodate handrail installation. The median will remain closed through mid-August.




Sugar Factory Area

Activity: Please be aware that flagging operations will be taking place intermittently through July at 2700 West near the tracks to accommodate construction vehicles; please follow flagger’s instructions.



Activity: Please be aware that flagging operations will be taking place intermittently through July at 3200 West near the tracks to accommodate construction vehicles; please follow flagger’s instructions.




Old Bingham Area

Activity: Work will be taking place on 4000 West at the trackway located near Old Bingham Highway. Traffic Impacts: 4000 West will be closed at the trackway from 7/27 (Monday) to 8/16 (Sunday). Old Bingham Highway will also be closed at 4000 West during these dates. Please use 4800 West or Bangerter Highway as alternate routes.



Activity: Utility work. Traffic Impacts: On Old Bingham Highway just west of the Bangerter Highway overpass, traffic will be restricted to one lane with flagging operations during working hours (7 am to 5 pm) and lane shifts during non-working hours through 7/26 (Sunday).



Activity: Eastbound shoulder closure on Old Bingham Highway west of Bangerter Highway through July.



Activity: Please be aware that flagging operations will be taking place intermittently through 2009 at 4800 West near Old Bingham Highway to accommodate construction vehicles. Please note that left turns are allowed from the through lane; please follow flagger’s instructions.



Activity: Please be aware that flagging operations will be taking place intermittently through 2009 at Wasatch Meadows Drive near Old Bingham Highway to accommodate construction vehicles. Please note that left turns are allowed from the through lane; please follow flagger’s instructions.



Activity: Please be aware that flagging operations will be taking place intermittently through 2009 at 5200 West and the railway to accommodate construction vehicles.



Activity: Utility work is currently ongoing. Traffic Impacts: Shoulder work with possible lane restrictions.




Gardner Village Area

NEW Activity: Bridge work at 7200 South and approximately 600 West. Traffic Impacts: The leftmost lane of 7200 South in each direction will be closed 8/1 (Saturday) and 8/2 (Sunday) to accommodate pile driving work.



UPDATED Activity: Utility and bridge work. Crews will be working at 700 West near approximately 7400 South. Traffic Impacts: The northbound right lane of 700 West will be closed from 8/6 (Thursday) through 8/14 (Friday) to accommodate drainage work. The southbound shoulder of 700 West will be closed in this immediate area through mid-August.



UPDATED Activity: Construction on the Jordan River TRAX bridge. Traffic Impacts: The Jordan River Parkway Trail near approximately 7500 South will be intermittently detoured through August 2009. Please be aware that the detour does cross a live railway track, and as such, the detour will be closed daily from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. when freight is actively running on the track. Please plan accordingly. UPDATE (7/23/09): The trail will be detoured from 7/31 (Friday) through 8/7 (Friday) to accommodate bridge work.



Activity: Access to Gardner Village from the Jordan River Parkway Trail is closed until August 2009.






Cottonwood Area

NEW Activity: Bridge work at 7200 South and approximately 600 West. Traffic Impacts: South sidewalk will be closed in the immediate area through 8/3.



UPDATED Activity: Bridge work on Winchester Street and approximately 400 West. Traffic Impacts: Traffic is also subject to intermittent flagging operations through 7/31 to accommodate construction vehicles. Please plan accordingly and use detour routes as posted.

Mid-Jordan Light Rail TRAX Construction Update: March 11, 2009*

Bangerter Bridge

UPDATED Activity: Crews have removed the median barrier in the area of approximately 8700 South and Bangerter Highway (just south of the Old Bingham Highway overpass). The median has been replaced with water barrels and will remain closed through April.

Sugar Factory Area

Activity: Utility work is currently ongoing. Traffic Impacts: Shoulder work with possible lane restrictions.

Old Bingham Area

No traffic impacts are expected.

Gardner Village Area

NEW Activity: Crews will be resuming work on the bridge at 7800 South near Gardner Village. Traffic Impacts: Westbound traffic will be shifted to the south side of 7800 South on March 9th until March 13th. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to the north March 13th and 14th.

Activity: Access to Gardner Village from the Jordan River Parkway Trail is closed until August 2009.

Activity: Construction on the Jordan River TRAX bridge. Traffic Impacts: A temporary detour began the week of October 13th, 2008 on the Jordan River Parkway Trail near approximately 7500 South. The trail will be intermittently detoured through August 2009. Please be aware that the detour does cross a live railway track, and as such, the detour will be closed daily from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. when freight is actively running on the track. Please plan accordingly.

Cottonwood Area

NEW Activity: Crews will be working near the bridge structure on Winchester Street. Traffic Impacts: Traffic may be subject to intermittent periods one lane configurations with flagging operations from March 9th through March 13th. Please plan accordingly.

NEW Activity: Crews will be working above and around the trackway (approximately 7400 South) and 700 West. Traffic Impacts: Traffic will be restricted to one lane with flagging operations on March 16th and March 17th. Please plan accordingly.

Activity: Crews are continuing access and utility work near 300 West and the intersection of Winchester Street and Cottonwood Street. Traffic Impacts: Shoulder work with lane restrictions.

Mid-Jordan Light Rail TRAX Construction Update: September 17, 2008*

Sugar Factory Area

Activity: Utility work at the intersection of 3200 West and the railway. Traffic Impacts: 3200 West will be closed at the trackway between approximately 8600 South and Haun Drive September 22nd through September 29th. Please use 8600 South or Haun Drive as detour routes. Detour signs will be posted.

Activity: Construction of sound wall along right-of-way rail corridor between 2700 West and 3200 West began on September 2nd and will continue through the end of the month.

Activity: Utility work is currently ongoing. Traffic Impacts: Shoulder work with possible lane restrictions.

Old Bingham Area

Activity: Utility work is currently ongoing. Traffic Impacts: Shoulder work with possible lane restrictions.

Gardner Village Area

Activity: Access to Gardner Village from the Jordan River Parkway Trail is closed until August 2009.

Updated Activity: Construction on the Jordan River TRAX bridge. Traffic Impacts: The Jordan River Parkway Trail will start a temporary detour near approximately 7500 South beginning September 25th. The detour will remain open during pile driving activities on September 25th-26th. The trail will be intermittently detoured through August 2009. Please be aware that the detour does cross a live railway track, and as such, the detour will be closed daily from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. when freight is actively running on the track. Please plan accordingly.

Activity: Construction on retaining walls at 7800 South near Gardner Village began on June 30th and is currently ongoing. Traffic Impacts: There will be a designated truck turning lane on the north side of 7800 South accessing the Gardner Village property. Flagging operations will be in place as trucks enter and exit the roadway. To accommodate this construction, the following closures will be in place:

  • The eastbound lane on the south side of 7800 South will be closed as necessary starting on August 6th
  • The westbound lane on the north side of 7800 South will be closed September 17th through October 1st

Activity: Construction activities on 1300 West at the railway have been postponed. Traffic Impacts: 1300 West will be not be closed at the railway from September 15th through September 22nd. There will be a notification when this work begins.

Activity: Grading and utility work is currently ongoing. Traffic Impacts: Shoulder closures with possible lane restrictions.

Cottonwood Area

Activity: Construction on Cottonwood Street will begin on September 2nd and will continue through mid-November. Traffic Impacts: Lane restrictions and closures as follows:

· Northbound travel on Cottonwood Street will be closed between Winchester Street and 6500 South for the duration of construction. Southbound travel will remain open and traffic will be shifted to the east side of the roadway while crews reconstruct the west side. Once construction on the west side is complete, traffic will be switched to the west side of the roadway to allow crews to reconstruct the east side.

· Cottonwood Street will accommodate southbound traffic only between Winchester Street and 6500 South. Please use 700 West or State Street as detour routes. Detour signs will be posted.

Activity: Construction on 300 West will begin on September 2nd and continue through November 2008. Traffic Impacts: 300 West will be closed to all traffic from 6300 South to Winchester Street, and closed to through traffic at 6100 South. Local business access will be available on 300 West between 6100 South and 6300 South.
