Couple of points.

The announcement about Provo mentions that it will be a multi-model depot but I see nothing about integrating the facility with the Amtrak station which is actually located on the far side of Freedom Blvd from the new Front Runner station.

Hopefully the new TOD at the 3900 South will be true TOD and not just TAD. Hopefully it will also integrate with the growing new community in the area.

UTA Awarded $5.4 Million In Federal Grants





U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff announced Thursday that Utah will receive two grants for $5.4 million under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Livability Initiative.



The Utah Transit Authority was awarded the two grants through the Federal Transit Administration’s competitive Bus and Bus Facilities grant program, which makes federal funds available to public transit providers to construct bus-related facilities. The grants include $5 million for the Provo Intermodal Center and $400,000 for the 3900 South Meadowbrook TRAX station.



“These competitive grants support our communities’ vision for increased access to public transit,” UTA General Manager Mike Allegra said. “By awarding these grants, Secretary LaHood and Administrator Rogoff recognize our efforts in building a strong transit system that will soon connect Provo to Salt Lake and beyond.”



The Provo Intermodal Center, located between Freedom Boulevard and University Avenue at approximately 700 South in Provo, will be a major new multi-modal transit hub. It will include 850 parking stalls, a 12-bay bus transfer terminal, and a connection for the future Provo-Orem bus rapid transit line. It is expected to open concurrently with the FrontRunner Salt Lake City to Provo line in 2014. In the future, the facility is planned to include bicycle facilities and other transit-oriented development.



Regarding the Provo grant, the office of Rep. Jason Chaffetz released the following statement, "FTA's announcement is great news for Provo and Utah County. An intermodal center in the heart of Provo has many advantages. Residents will appreciate one-stop, quick and easy access to commuter rail, bus, and other transportation options. This project will play an important role in addressing the needs of an ever more upwardly mobile workforce and community."



The $400,000 grant will go toward converting the 3900 South Meadowbrook TRAX station in South Salt Lake from a park-and-ride stop to a transit-oriented development. The grant money will be used to replace existing surface parking with a new parking deck and reconfiguring the bus loop.



These infrastructure changes will allow redevelopment of the remainder of the block. Proposed new structures include a 60,000 square foot office/educational building, 7,000 square feet of retail and an 88 unit apartment building.

7200 South Closure

7200 South Westbound Closure
This Weekend Beginning Tonight





Midvale — Utah Transit Authority advises motorists of a road closure on 7200 South in Midvale this weekend, Jan. 8-10. 7200 South will be closed between approximately 400 West and 700 West for bridge work on the FrontRunner South commuter rail line.



The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, and continue through Sunday night. The road will reopen no later than 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11.



Traffic between State Street and I-15 on 7200 South will be restricted to local traffic only. I-15 on-ramps will be accessible for westbound traffic but traffic using the I-15 off-ramps will be detoured east to State Street.



Local traffic will be detoured south to Midvale Center Street or east to State Street. All westbound traffic will be detoured for the duration of the weekend work but one lane will maintained for eastbound travel through most of the weekend.



The closure is necessary for drilling a shaft for the center pier of the FrontRunner rail bridge that will span 7200 South.

Construction is progressing on UTA’s FrontRunner South Provo to Salt Lake Commuter Rail line.

Below is the FrontRunner South construction update for August 29 – September 4. To learn more about the FrontRunner South project, click here.



Area 16 — Downtown Salt Lake City to 4500 South (Murray)



Construction Activity:

There are no construction activities to report.



Traffic Impacts:

There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area.



Salt Lake Central Station:

Station complete.



Area 15 — 4500 South (Murray) to Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale)



Construction Activity:

Construction continues on bridges over eastbound I-215, Center Street (7800 South) and Wasatch Street (8000 South) in Midvale. These bridges will run parallel to existing Union Pacific Railroad bridges.



At the I-215 Bridge, crews will form, tie rebar and pour concrete for an abutment wing wall, form and pour concrete for a pier cap shoring and install slope paving on the north side of the bridge. At the Center Street and Wasatch Street bridges, crews will finish wrap around the MSE walls and install slope paving on both sides of the bridges.



Traffic Impacts:

At Center Street there will be a sidewalk closure with flaggers in the area to assist area schoolchildren who may be crossing the street. Also at Center Street, on Thursday the southern eastbound lane will be closed and on Friday the northern westbound lane will be closed.



At Wasatch Street there will be a lane closure with flaggers Monday through Thursday.



Murray Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)



Construction Activity:

Progress continues behind Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Campus at 9800 South as crews construct a bridge that flies over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This is the area where FrontRunner will move from the east side to the west side of the tracks.



Construction continues on two of the crash walls at the flyover bridge this week.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be stationed at 144th South all week to direct truck traffic.



South Jordan Station:

Lightweight fill for the flyover bridge construction is being stored at the site of the future South Jordan park and ride lot.



Draper/Bluffdale Station:

The location of this future station is to be determined.



Area 13 — 14600 South (Bluffdale) to Thanksgiving Point (Lehi)



Construction Activity:

Crews will continue mass excavation and grade balancing work in the area this week. They will also finish work on the outside ballast walls of the bridge over the Jordan River.



Work continues on a wall being constructed at Union Pacific’s Mesa Siding north of Clubhouse Lane in Lehi and crews will also conduct slope work in this area.



Traffic Impacts:

There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area.



Area 12 — Thanksgiving Point (Lehi) to Main Street (American Fork)



Construction Activity:

At Thanksgiving Point, Union Pacific has been cut over temporarily to the UTA main line to allow for construction to continue on the pedestrian tunnel located under the tracks. Crews will form, tie rebar and pour concrete for the pedestrian tunnel walls and deck slab this week.



In Lehi crews will install fencing near 2100 North and remove the crane from the site of the Lehi irrigation ditch at approximately 600 North.



Utility work in the area continues at 1220 North, 900 North, 100 South and at Millpond Road, and also between 300 South and 300 East. Crews will continue to relocate power utilities at Dry Creek near the Lehi Rodeo Grounds.



Traffic Impacts:

In Lehi, there will be truck traffic with flaggers near 1220 North on Monday, and, to support utility work, flaggers will be at Millpond Road Monday through Wednesday and at 500 West 300 South on Thursday.



Lehi Station:

At the Lehi Station Park and Ride Lot, crews will continue curb and gutter work and also begin asphalt paving.



Area 11 — Main Street (American Fork) to University Parkway (Orem)



Construction Activity:

Crews will conduct sub grade prep work in the corridor between 100 West and the American Fork River. They will also be clearing and grubbing the corridor from 1100 South in American Fork to 600 South in Vineyard and between 800 South and University Parkway in Orem.



Mass embankment work in the area continues between the American Fork River and 100 East and from 1100 South to 1500 South in American Fork and from 600 South to 400 North in Vineyard. Permanent fencing will be installed between the American Fork River and 100 East.



Utility work continues this week at 200 South in American Fork.



Traffic Impacts:

In American Fork, flaggers continue to be stationed at 100 East and 1100 South to direct truck traffic entering and exiting the corridor. There will also be truck traffic near the sewer plant at 1500 South.



On Monday through Wednesday in American Fork, there will be a lane closure at 200 South to support utility work.



American Fork Station:

Crews continue to install water lines at the Park and Ride Lot this week as well as prepare the sub grade in the southern portion of the lot.



Vineyard Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Orem Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Area 10 — University Parkway (Orem) to Center Street (Provo)



Construction Activity:

Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area, and main line earthwork has been finalized from University Parkway to 2000 South in Orem and from the Provo River Bridge to 500 West in Provo.



At Union Pacific’s Lakota Junction, located south of University Parkway in Orem, crews will conduct mass excavation work and place sub ballast, and from the Provo River Bridge to 900 West crews will continue track work. On Thursday at 500 West, crews will begin crossing upgrades.



Crews will begin demolishing the west side bridge over the Provo River to prepare for construction of the new UTA bridge. The Provo River Parkway Trail will be closed under the bridge between Independence Avenue to Geneva Road beginning Wednesday, September 2 for two to three weeks.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be directing traffic at 500 West in Provo on Thursday as crews prepare for crossing work.



Provo Station:

Crews will continue stem wall work at the station site as well as begin excavation work.

Area 15 — 4500 South (Murray) to Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale)



Construction Activity:

Construction continues on bridges over eastbound I-215, Center Street (7800 South) and Wasatch Street (8000 South) in Midvale. These bridges will run parallel to existing Union Pacific Railroad bridges.



Crews will be pouring concrete for one of the I-215 bridge piers and removing shoring from another of the piers. Crews will form, tie rebar and pour concrete for one of the Center Street abutments and continue construction on one of its abutment walls. At Wasatch Street, crews will finish abutment wall construction.



Traffic Impacts:

On Tuesday evening, crews will be moving equipment across I-215 for a short period of time and on Wednesday morning the left lane will be closed on eastbound I-215 while crews pull remove shoring.



At Center Street there will be a sidewalk closure with flaggers in the area to assist area schoolchildren who may be crossing the street.



Murray Station:

No station construction activities to report.




Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)



Construction Activity:

Progress continues behind Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Campus at 9800 South as crews construct a bridge that flies over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This is the area where FrontRunner will move from the east side to the west side of the tracks.



This week crews will be working on a fiber optic relocation at the flyover bridge.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be stationed at 144th South all week to direct truck traffic.



South Jordan Station:

Lightweight fill for the flyover bridge construction is being stored at the site of the future South Jordan park and ride lot.



Draper/Bluffdale Station:

The location of this future station is to be determined.



Area 13 — 14600 South (Bluffdale) to Thanksgiving Point (Lehi)



Construction Activity:

Crews continue to establish access in the Jordan Narrows north of Lehi. This week, crews will continue mass excavation and grade balancing work in the area, form, tie rebar and pour concrete for the outside ballast walls of the bridge over the Jordan River, and continue work on a wall being constructed at Union Pacific’s Mesa Siding north of Clubhouse Lane in Lehi.



Traffic Impacts:

There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area.




Area 12 — Thanksgiving Point (Lehi) to Main Street (American Fork)



Construction Activity:

At Thanksgiving Point, Union Pacific has been cut over temporarily to the UTA main line to allow for construction to continue on the pedestrian tunnel located under the tracks. This week, crews will form, tie rebar and pour concrete for the pedestrian tunnel floor slab.



In Lehi, crews will create access for construction of UTA bridges over 2100 North and the Lehi irrigation ditch at approximately 600 North. A temporary road will be built from 2100 North south along the corridor to accommodate bridge construction equipment. Crews will mobilize a crane in for construction at the Lehi irrigation ditch and drive H-pile for the north abutment this week.



Water and irrigation line work in the area continues between 1220 North and 500 West and at Millpond Road, and at Dry Creek near the Lehi Rodeo Grounds, crews will relocate power utilities.



Traffic Impacts:

In Lehi, Ashton Boulevard will be closed Tuesday through Wednesday morning and Executive Parkway will be closed Wednesday through Thursday morning.



Expect truck traffic near 2100 North as crews construct access for bridge construction.



To support utility work at 900 North there will be a lane drop with flaggers directing traffic.



Lehi Station:

Electrical conduit and curb and gutter work continues this week at the Lehi Station Park and Ride Lot.


Area 11 — Main Street (American Fork) to University Parkway (Orem)



Construction Activity:

Crews will continue clearing and grubbing the corridor from the American Fork River to 100 East and will be installing permanent fencing in this section as well as north to 100 West. Mass embankment work also continues between 100 East and 1100 South in American Fork and from 5200 North to 400 North in Vineyard.



Utility work continues this week near the American Fork Station and between 400 South and 800 South in Orem.



Traffic Impacts:

In American Fork, flaggers continue to be stationed at 100 East and 1100 South to direct truck traffic entering and exiting the corridor.



There will also be truck traffic by the Lindon Boar Harbor at 600 South.



American Fork Station:

Crews will continue to install water lines at the Park and Ride Lot this week and conduct signal work at the station site.



Vineyard Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Orem Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Area 10 — University Parkway (Orem) to Center Street (Provo)



Construction Activity:

Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area, and main line earthwork has been finalized from University Parkway to 2000 South in Orem and from the Provo River bridge to 500 West in Provo.



Between University Parkway in Orem and 2000 South in Orem, crews will balance the grade and conduct mass excavation work. In Provo, utility work will take place at 2800 West and 2000 North.



Earth and track work continues this week in Provo with sub grade prep work taking place between 1680 North and 820 North, mass embankment work taking place from 820 North to the Provo River bridge, and track construction and ballast stockpiling taking place between the Provo River bridge and 900 West.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be directing truck traffic at 820 North in Provo.



Provo Station:

At the station site, crews will form and tie rebar for a stem wall.

Construction Activity:

Crews will form and pour one of the piers at the bridge over eastbound I-215 and continue temporary shoring at another. Potholing will also take place at Wasatch Street this week.



Traffic Impacts:

Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)



Construction Activity:

Progress continues behind Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Campus at 9800 South as crews construct a bridge that flies over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This is the area where FrontRunner will move from the east side to the west side of the tracks.



Wall construction will continue on the northeast side of the bridge and crews will begin excavation for walls on the southwest side of the bridge. Work will also continue on a crash wall at the bridge.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be stationed at 9400 South in Sandy to direct truck traffic delivering lightweight fill to the site of the flyover bridge. On Thursday, there will be a lane closure at 9400 South for potholing.



The outside northbound lane on South Jordan Gateway at approximately 10400 South will be closed as flaggers direct truck traffic moving lightweight fill.



South Jordan Station:

Lightweight fill for the flyover bridge construction is being stored at the site of the future South Jordan park and ride lot.



Draper/Bluffdale Station:

Area 13 — 14600 South (Bluffdale) to Thanksgiving Point (Lehi)



Construction Activity:

This week crews continue sub grade stabilization south of 146th South and will bring in a crane and set girders for the Jordan River Bridge. North of Clubhouse Lane in Lehi, crews will continue mass excavation work and begin construction on a wall at Union Pacific’s Mesa Siding.

Area 12 — Thanksgiving Point (Lehi) to Main Street (American Fork)



Construction Activity:

Now that Union Pacific has been cutover temporarily to the UTA main line, work will begin again on the pedestrian tunnel located under the tracks. This week crews will begin excavating the portion of the tunnel under the former Union Pacific track.



Between 900 North and 500 West in Lehi, crews will continue clearing and grubbing work and sub grade stabilization. Utility work will take place at 1500 North, 500 West and Millpond Road.



Traffic Impacts:

There will be flaggers stationed at 900 North in Lehi to direct truck traffic. At Millpond Road flaggers will be directing truck traffic on and assisting with utility work on Tuesday and Wednesday.



Lehi Station:

At the Lehi Station Park and Ride, crews will work on the storm sewer system and drill light pole foundations.



Area 11 — Main Street (American Fork) to University Parkway (Orem)



Construction Activity:

Crews will be splicing cable near 100 East in American Fork and conducting utility work between 400 South and 800 South in Orem.



Traffic Impacts:

There will be truck traffic at Millpond Road on Monday.



American Fork Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Vineyard Station:

Crews will backfill the stem walls at the site of the future station.



Orem Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Area 10 — University Parkway (Orem) to Center Street (Provo)



Construction Activity:

Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area.



Crews will construct track and place top ballast and conduct drainage work just south of University Parkway in Orem. In Provo from 600 West to just south of University Avenue crews will demo existing track. Utility work will also take place between University Avenue and Freedom Boulevard.



Sub grade stabilization work will take place between I-15 and 820 North and north of the Provo River Bridge crews will be installing permanent fencing and clearing and grubbing. Crews will also be placing sub ballast south of the Provo River Bridge to 900 West at 500 South.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be stationed in Provo at 820 North, 200 North, 900 West and 500 West to direct truck traffic. Tentatively, flaggers will also be at Freedom Boulevard on Tuesday.



Provo Station:

No station construction activities to report.

At I-215, storm drain relocation work will continue, and on the north side of the bridge crews will continue installing temporary shoring and permanent pile. At Center Street, crews will continue installing temporary shoring on the north abutment and continue wall construction. At Wasatch Street, crews will continue abutment wall construction.



Traffic Impacts:

Lane and sidewalk closures will take place in conjunction with bridge construction at Center and Wasatch Streets. There will be a single lane closure at Wasatch Street and lane closures in each direction at Center Street. Flaggers will be at both bridges to direct traffic.



Murray Station:

Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)



Construction Activity:

Irrigation line work will take place at 300 North 500 West in Lehi Monday through Wednesday.

There will be flaggers stationed at 900 North in Lehi to direct truck traffic and at 300 North 500 West to assist irrigation line work.



Lehi Station:

Crews will be working at the Lehi Station Park and Ride lot throughout the week to balance the grade.

Construction Activity:

Work continues at the sites of the future Vineyard Station, see details below.



Utility work will take place near the site of the future American Fork Station and north of University Parkway in Orem. Utility work will also continue near 800 South in Orem.

Construction Activity:

Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area.

Area 15 — 4500 South (Murray) to Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale)



Construction Activity:

Construction continues on bridges over eastbound I-215 and Center (7800 South) and Wasatch (8000) Streets in Midvale. These bridges will run parallel to existing Union Pacific Railroad main line bridges.



At I-215, crews will continue installing permanent pile on the north side of the bridge and also continue work on a storm drain relocation. At Center Street, crews will continue installing temporary shoring on the north abutment and begin wall construction. At Wasatch Street, crews will continue abutment wall construction and form and pour the south abutment of the bridge.



Traffic Impacts:

Lane and sidewalk closures will take place in conjunction with bridge construction at Center and Wasatch Streets. There will be a single lane closure at Wasatch Street and lane closures in each direction at Center Street. Flaggers will be at both bridges to direct traffic.



Murray Station:

No station construction activities to report.



Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)



Construction Activity:

Progress continues behind Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Campus at 9800 South as crews construct a bridge that flies over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This is the area where FrontRunner will move from the east side to the west side of the tracks.



Construction will continue on a wall on the northeast side of the bridge and crews will begin clearing and grubbing the corridor near the bridge. Crews will also continue work on the crash wall at the bridge.



Mass embankment work will take place between 10000 South and 10600 South.



Traffic Impacts:

Flaggers will be stationed at 9400 South in Sandy to direct truck traffic delivering lightweight fill to the site of the flyover bridge.



The outside northbound lane on South Jordan Gateway at approximately 10400 South will be closed as flaggers direct truck traffic moving lightweight fill.



South Jordan Station:

Lightweight fill for the flyover bridge construction is being stored at the site of the future South Jordan park and ride lot.



Draper/Bluffdale Station:

Area 13 — 14600 South (Bluffdale) to Thanksgiving Point (Lehi)



Construction Activity:

Crews continue to establish access and prepare the site along the railroad corridor in Bluffdale and Lehi.



At the 144th South bridge, crews will begin soil mixing at the south side wall. At the Jordan River bridge, crews will form and pour wing walls for one of the abutments and strip forms on the other. North of Clubhouse Lane in Lehi, crews will continue excavation and storm drain work.

Area 12 — Thanksgiving Point (Lehi) to Main Street (American Fork)



Construction Activity:

This week crews will continue work near the site of the Lehi station with water line work taking place at Ashton Boulevard. Utility work will continue at 300 West in Lehi on Monday and all week at 500 West. Drainage work will take place on Thursday and Friday between 300 East and the American Fork Park and Ride lot. Also, crews will clear and grub the corridor between 500 West and 900 North in Lehi.

Area 11 — Main Street (American Fork) to University Parkway (Orem)



Construction Activity:

Work continues at the sites of the future American Fork, Vineyard and Orem Stations, see details below.



Sub grade stabilization will take place between 100 East and the American Fork River and utility work will continue near 800 South in Orem.

Area 10 — University Parkway (Orem) to Center Street (Provo)



Construction Activity:

Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area.



Crews will continue placing sub ballast between 900 West at 500 South and 650 West and will remove existing Union Pacific track from University Avenue to 600 West. Utility work will also take place just south of University Parkway in Orem.



Traffic Impacts:

Construction Activity:

This week crews will continue work at the Lehi Park and Ride lot by balancing the grade. Also, utility work will take place at 300 West in Lehi Monday through Wednesday.

Flaggers will be stationed at 300 West in Lehi Monday through Wednesday to assist utility workers. Utility crews will also be potholing in multiple locations throughout Lehi this week.

Utility work will continue near 800 South in Orem as crews extend water line casings, and relocate a hydrant and sewer manhole.

Area 10 — University Parkway (Orem) to Center Street (Provo)



Construction Activity:

Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area.



Mass embankment work will take place between the Provo River Bridge and Center Street and crews will be balancing the grade between Center Street and 900 West at 500 South. Also, crews will begin placing sub ballast between 900 West at 500 South and 650 West.



Traffic Impacts:

At 200 North in Provo trucks will be entering and exiting the corridor on Monday.



At 700 West and 900 West there will be truck traffic Tuesday through Thursday, and there is the possibility that crews will begin crossing work this week.



At 200 West and Freedom Boulevard crews will be working on the Union Pacific signal on Thursday. The gates will not be functioning so there will be flaggers directing traffic.

Construction will continue this week on bridges over Center (7800 South) and Wasatch (8000 South) Streets in Midvale. These bridges will run parallel to existing Union Pacific Railroad main line bridges. Crews will continue installing temporary shoring on the south abutment of the Center Street bridge and begin installing H-pile on this abutment. They will also begin installing temporary shoring for the north abutment. At Wasatch Street, crews will continue abutment wall construction. Traffic Impacts: Lane and sidewalk closures will take place in conjunction with Wasatch and Center Streets bridge construction. Closures will alternate sides. Crews will be clearing and grubbing the corridor between 10000 South and 10600 South and installing drainage near 11400 South in South Jordan. Traffic Impacts: Flaggers will be stationed at 9400 South in Sandy to direct truck traffic delivering lightweight fill to the site of the flyover bridge. The outside northbound lane on South Jordan Gateway at approximately 10400 South will be closed as flaggers direct truck traffic moving lightweight fill. At 14400 South in Bluffdale, flaggers will be stationed on either side of the bridge to help direct truck traffic entering and exiting the railroad corridor on the east side of the bridge. Construction Activity: Crews continue to establish access and prepare the site along the railroad corridor in Bluffdale and Lehi. Excavation and trackway embankment work will continue throughout the area. Crews will place and backfill the north end box culvert for the Jordan and Salt Lake Canal bridge and also backfill the south end ramp. Wall construction will take place this week on the South Jordan Canal concrete channel and concrete will be poured for the Jordan River bridge footings. Sub grade stabilization will be placed for the Union Pacific siding relocation north of Clubhouse Lane in Lehi. Traffic Impacts: There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area.

Area 12 — Thanksgiving Point (Lehi) to Main Street (American Fork)

Construction Activity: Crews will continue to construct track for the new Union Pacific Railroad siding (and future UTA main line #2) on the west side of the corridor near Thanksgiving Point as well as begin clearing and grubbing more of the corridor. Traffic Impacts: There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area. Lehi Station: Now that the underground utility work at the future Lehi park and ride site is complete, crews will begin preparing the area for storm drain work.

Area 11 — Main Street (American Fork) to University Parkway (Orem)

Construction Activity: Trackway embankment work continues in American Fork from 200 South to 7350 West at Main Street, as well as at the sites of the future Vineyard and Orem Stations. On Thursday and Friday, a utility crew will extend a water casing at 400 South in Orem. Traffic Impacts: On Tuesday, June 16, flaggers will be directing traffic at 200 South in Lehi to support utility work. Flaggers will be stationed at the American Fork park and ride lot on 7750 North to direct truck traffic exiting the corridor and at Main Street and Millpond Road in Lehi to direct truck traffic entering the corridor. At 400 South in Orem there will be a lane shift on Thursday and Friday as crews conduct utility work in the shoulder. American Fork Station: No station construction activities to report. Vineyard Station: Crews will continue forming the platform footings for the future station and pour concrete on Thursday. Orem Station: Crews will form and pour a stem wall at the Orem park and ride site.

Construction Activity: Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and West Center Street in Provo. At Union Pacific’s Lakota Junction just south of University Parkway in Orem crews will continue sub grade preparation and mass embankment work. Area 15 — 4500 South (Murray) to Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale)

Construction Activity: Construction will continue this week on bridges over Center and Wasatch Streets. These bridges will run parallel to the existing Union Pacific bridges. At Center Street (7800 South), crews will continue removing the slope blanket under the bridge on the south side. They will also begin installing temporary shoring. Crews will finish driving H-Pile at the north abutment of the Wasatch Street bridge and begin excavation work and wall construction this week. Traffic Impacts: There will be a shoulder closure at 5900 South at the corridor as crews conduct utility work. To support construction of the Wasatch Street and Center Street bridges, lane and sidewalk closures will take place. Flaggers will be directing traffic at Wasatch Street and at Center Street eastbound traffic will be narrowed to one lane. Murray Station: No station construction activities to report.

Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)

Construction Activity: Progress continues in Area 14 behind Salt Lake Community College’s campus at 9800 South as crews construct a bridge that flies over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This is the area where FrontRunner will move from the east side to the west side of the tracks. Work will continue on a wall on the northeast side of the bridge and crews will set forms and rebar for one of the flyover bridge piers. Crews will continue work on the grade between 114th South and 123rd South in Draper. Traffic Impacts: Flaggers will be directing truck traffic on South Jordan Parkway at approximately 104th South and at the 114th South crossing. At 144th South, flaggers will be stationed on either side of the bridge to help direct truck traffic entering and exiting the railroad corridor on the east side of the bridge. We ask that drivers please be patient and courteous while using the one-lane road under the bridge and that they please obey instructions from the flaggers for safety reasons. South Jordan Station: Lightweight fill for the flyover walls is being stored at the site of the future Park and Ride Lot. Traffic Impacts: In Provo, flaggers will be rerouting traffic slightly to the south of 1680 North at the crossing for a water line tie-in on Tuesday.
