You look at this video and you realize how far we have not come over the years. Basically automobiles and automobile travel has not changed in 50 years.
One of the favorite arguments of the anti-transit types is that rail is outdated. Of course this in itself is 1950's thinking. The truth is we have seen little changes in automobiles in the last 100 years. They have gotten bigger motors, more safety features but are essentially the same was when Henry Ford started rolling the Model T off the assembly line.
