Construction is progressing on UTA’s FrontRunner South Provo to Salt Lake Commuter Rail line.

Area 16 — Downtown Salt Lake City to 4500 South (Murray)
Construction Activity:
Work at the 3300 South bridge this week will include excavation at both abutments and backfilling at the north abutment. Water line and embankment work will take place between Central Avenue and 4500 South.
Traffic Impacts:
There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area.
Please note that Central Avenue has reopened until crews resume work on the bridge walls.
Salt Lake Central Station:
Station complete.
Area 15 — 4500 South (Murray) to Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale)
Construction Activity:
Crews will relocate a power pole at 4800 South and form, tie rebar and pour concrete for the south abutment of the 5300 South bridge.
At the I-215 westbound bridge crews will work on slope paving and barrier restoration. They will also be restriping the road and removing traffic control. At the 7200 South bridge crews will set girders on Tuesday night and work on the handrail and deck plate for the rest of the week. Crews will also be restoring the median on 7200 South on Friday night and Saturday.
Crews will be relocating power poles between Center and Wasatch Streets Thursday and Friday.
Traffic Impacts:
On 4800 South at the tracks there is a lane closure tentatively planned on Friday for potholing.
There will be the following lane closures on I-215 westbound this week:
· Monday, May 3, 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., the left lane;
· Monday night, May 3, 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., the right lane of I-215 westbound, the left lane of the I-15 northbound on ramp and the 280 East on ramp to I-215 westbound.
There will be the following lane and road closures on 7200 South this week:
· Tuesday, May 4, 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., full road closure between I-15 and 700 West;
· Wednesday, May 5, and Thursday, May 6, 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., the eastbound left lane;
· Friday, May 7, 10:00 p.m. – noon, the westbound left land and eastbound left lane.
Murray Station:
There are no construction activities to report.
Area 14 — Wasatch Street/8000 South (Midvale) to 14600 South (Bluffdale)
General Information:
Considerable progress has been made on the flyover structure west of Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Campus at 9800 South. The 642-foot flyover bridge features a 40-foot-high bridge deck that will allow FrontRunner to travel from the east to the west side of Union Pacific Railroad’s track way. The flyover structure’s approaches consist of keystone block MSE walls filled entirely with lightweight fill to minimize settlement.
Construction Activity:
Between 9000 South and 9400 South crews will continue excavating for a retaining wall and also relocate a fire hydrant. At the flyover bridge crews will be removing surcharge from the north approach and placing it on the south approach.
Crews will be conducting mass excavation and embankment work between 114000 South and 123000 South and also relocating power and poles in this reach. At the Bangerter Highway bridge, crews will continue to install shoring as well as begin to excavate for and install soil nails at the south abutments, continue work on one of the pier’s footings, and also work on another of the pier’s caps. At the 14600 South bridge crews will remove the temporary shoring.
Traffic Impacts:
There will be truck traffic with flaggers on 9400 South Monday through Friday.
There will be the following lane closures at the Bangerter Highway bridge this week:
· Monday, May 3, the two westbound left lanes and the eastbound left lane;
· Tuesday, May 4, the two westbound left lanes;
· Wednesday, May 5, the eastbound left lane;
· Thursday, May 6, the westbound left lane.
South Jordan Station:
There are no construction activities to report.
Draper Future Station:
There are no construction activities to report.
Area 13 — 14600 South (Bluffdale) to Thanksgiving Point (Lehi)
Construction Activity:
At the 14600 South bridge crews will continue to place surcharge and will also install a water line casing in the area. Hand rail installation and clean-up activities will take place at the East Jordan Canal bridge.
Traffic Impacts:
There are currently no impacts to motorists in this area.
Area 12 — Thanksgiving Point (Lehi) to Main Street (American Fork)
General Information:
Crews are currently constructing two major bridges in Lehi at 2300 West and 2100 North. The 2300 West bridge will allow FrontRunner to travel over Lehi City’s future 2300 West road project and the 2100 North bridge will span UDOT’s future Mountain View Corridor, 2100 North roadway. The 2100 North bridge will feature abutments on each end of the bridge and five center piers. For the purposes of this publication, the piers are numbered 1 through 5 starting at the southern end of the bridge.
Construction Activity:
Work is resuming at the pedestrian tunnel; this week crews will be excavating and building forms. Crews will form, tie rebar and pour concrete for the south abutment footing at the 2300 West bridge and the pier #4 cap at the 2100 North bridge. Also at the 2100 North bridge, crews will be setting girders on Wednesday and Thursday. Crews continue construction on the retaining walls in Cranberry Farms and at 1500 North.
Between 2100 North and 1500 North crews will install a field fence and from 1500 North to 1220 North crews will construct a wall on top of a concrete ditch. From 1220 North to 900 North crews will work on track way embankment, and between 900 North and 500 West and 300 South and Center Street utility installations will continue.
Traffic Impacts:
On Garden Drive near the golf course there will be a lane closure with flaggers on Monday and Tuesday for curb and gutter restoration.
There will be truck traffic with flaggers at the south end of Garden Drive Monday through Thursday.
There will be a lane closure with flaggers Tuesday through Thursday at 900 North for potholing.
Lehi Station:
A portion of the Lehi Station Park and Ride Lot is now open for public use.
Area 11 — Main Street (American Fork) to University Parkway (Orem)
Construction Activity:
Crews will place initial ballast between 100 East and 1500 South in American Fork, place sub ballast and distribute ties between 400 North in Vineyard and Geneva Road in Orem, and finish track way embankment, slopes and ditches between Geneva Road and 400 South in Orem.
Also in Orem, signal work at Geneva Road and crossing upgrades at 800 South will take place this week. The crossing upgrades include signal and track work, the installation of concrete medians and signs, and road asphalting and striping.
Traffic Impacts:
At 400 North in Vineyard there will be truck traffic with flaggers on Friday.
There will be truck traffic with flaggers on Geneva Road in Orem, just north of 400 South, Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Crossing work will take place on 800 South in Orem; there will be flaggers on the single lane temporary access road during the day Monday through Sunday.
American Fork Station:
Crews will be installing wick drains near the station site, and repairing white paving, curb and gutter and also working on irrigation and landscaping in the Park and Ride Lot.
Vineyard Future Station:
There are no construction activities to report.
Orem Station:
Crews will continue to proof electrical conduit at the Orem Station.
Area 10 — University Parkway (Orem) to Center Street (Provo)
General Information:
Significant progress has been made in Area 10 along the Union Pacific Railroad corridor between University Parkway in Orem and Freedom Boulevard in Provo. Crews have prepared a path for FrontRunner by grading and clearing the right-of-way and relocating water lines. Drainage and irrigation installations are generally complete in this area, and main line earthwork has been finalized from University Parkway to 2000 South in Orem and from the Provo River bridge to 500 West in Provo. At-grade crossing improvements have also been completed at 900 West, 700 West, 500 West and Freedom Boulevard.
Construction Activity:
Near University Parkway in Orem crews continue work on the soil nail wall and between the crossing on 2800 West and 1680 North in Provo fencing repairs will take place. Crews will finish crossing upgrades at 1680 North this week and install a signal pad and house at 2800 West.
At Draper Lane crews will install a fiber optic line hand hole, and between 820 North and Center Street construct track and distribute ties. From 700 West to Freedom Boulevard crews will finish placing sub ballast and distribute rail, and South of University Avenue crews will install chain link fence and a gas line for a switch heater.
Traffic Impacts:
There will be truck traffic with flaggers in Provo at the following crossings:
· 1680 North, Monday through Wednesday;
· 820 North, Wednesday and Thursday;
· 500 West, all week;
· Freedom Boulevard, all week.
Provo Station:
Crews will continue to proof electrical conduit at the station site and also bring in gravel and stockpile ballast. A platform under drain will also be installed.

Access during Construction
UTA is committed to maintaining access to all of the businesses and residences along the construction corridor.
Construction Hours
Construction on the project is permitted to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday each week. Additionally, specific activities may require different working hours depending upon the conditions and will be coordinated with city officials.
