They are wrong. The best route for TRAX is the right of way that has existed for over a hundred years and that is the old Union Pacific line.

Transit funding held up
Well it looks like everyone's biggest fear about the vote on the transporatation tax is coming true. I think it is pretty clear that when the voters went into the voting booth they where voting to expand the TRAX system and improve transportation in Salt Lake County.
However, I am sure many of them like me had the nagging little twitch in the back of their heads that said "can we trust our legislators to do what is best"? Many people have distrust of our state legislators because they have proven over and over again that they are controlled by special interest (especially big business), self serving, and only care about what is in it for them.
I love the comments from the big windbag Greg Curtis accusing the Salt Lake County council of playing politics. After all, he knows what the voters voted for but all he cares about is that soccor stadium so the voters be damned.
The voters wanted TRAX. TRAX is needed. Lets get the ball rolling and stop crap.

"New" Draperites Whining Goes On.....
Draper group seeks referendum on TRAX
Here we go again, a small group of "new" Draperites want to stop the light rail line from going down the best path. Instead they rather see it go down State which would slow it downa and create other issues.
I walk the Rockwell Trail sometimes and just knew that some of the people buying some of those overpriced homes would hate to see the big mean evil light rail train going any where near their precious homes.
Hopefully common sense will prevail and UTA will not become like the MTA in Los Angeles and give in to every little NIMBY and BANANA that comes along.

-This article once again shows that there are two UTA's: there is TRAX which I do support but it is treated much better than the other UTA: the bus system. For example here is a quote from the article talking about TRAX stations and cars:
"We want to keep them very clean and simple so the passengers are able to notice the safety information . . . and not be bombarded by advertising," Jones said.
Compare that to the bus system where they continue to support putting wraps on the buses that make looking out the windows a pain and discourage ridership.
